xPert
for Staging

xPert
for Staging is a product designed for managing physicians
to assign T,N, and M elements and a Stage Group for cancer
patients. Managing physicians, and
not cancer registrars
or other nonphysician professionals, assign and record these
elements on a staging form within the medical record. Proper staging
allows the physician to determine appropriate care and treatment
of the cancer patient. Read more about the facts of
staging at the National
Cancer Institute website.
mTuitive?s xPert for Pathology captures approximately
half of the data elements required to fully stage, code for and report on a tumor.
These data elements are used to
drive
treatment
protocols and record in cancer registries. xPert for Staging presents all
of the data elements recorded by the pathologist in a simple to read format to
the managing physician and allows him or her to complete the checklist quickly,
ensuring completeness and compliance. The T,N,M report is automatically
coded and registered in the medical record and Cancer Registry.
xPert for Staging will integrate with all EMR and Cancer Registry software systems.
Benefits
xPert
for Staging
presents an opportunity to transform the arcane process of
data abstraction
into a clinical tool for
patient treatment - streamlining and improving the quality
of data collected. xPert for Staging provides the managing
physician with a quick and simple manner to record required
staging information, improving communication among treatment
providers.
The benefits extend to the Cancer Registry by alleviating the need to chase down
physicians to gather all of the required data. Staging data elements are
translated into machine readable codes and automatically transferred to the cancer
registry software system. Inefficiencies associated with transcription,
data mining, abstracting and re-entry into cancer registry software provide an
immediate ROI. Cancer registrars are empowered to be analysts rather than
abstractors.
